Parent's Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
When does the season start?
First regular season game is September 10, 2011. For U10 and older divisions, the player assessment period is August 1 - 28. The Division commissioner for your child will contact you about the scheduled dates and time for that division. Player assessment is used to balance teams. This is not a tryout. At AYSO, Everyone Plays.
Do I have to come to the field to complete my registration?
Yes. You are required to come to one of our onsite registration dates at Kenneth Hahn. For new players, we are required to verify their age. For returning player, a current year registration form needs to be signed. Parent volunteer forms are also updated every year and require signatures.
Do I have to volunteer?
We are an all volunteer organization. We have no paid staff. Our work is performed by parents. If parents do not volunteer, we cannot have soccer. If we don’t have coaches, we cannot form a team. Without referees, we cannot play. Goals have to be setup, the field needs to be lined. Every aspect of our soccer program is done by parent volunteers. Our region commissioner, coaches, referees, team parent, field crew, and webmaster are all volunteers.. No prior experience is required for any of our volunteer positions. We will provide you with all the training and tools for the job.
To volunteer go to www.eayso .org account. See our Becoming A Volunteer page for volunteer positions and descriptions. We need coaches, referees, field crew, assistant coaches, webmaster and division commissioners. All parents need to do their fair share.
Do I have to live in the area to register in Region 1031?
AYSO has an open registration policy. All children are welcome to play in our region regardless of skill level, experience or city of residence.
Where are the games?
U5 – U12 divisions play all their games at the Kenneth Hahn Soccer Fields (5401 S. Fairfax Ave, Los Angeles, 90056). Younger age groups play in the morning and older age groups play in the afternoon.

When do the coaches get their teams?
Coaches should expect to receive their team rosters by 8/22/11
Can my child play on the same team with his school friend?
It depends. We consider request for players U5-U8. However, we must also consider a balanced team. For U10 – U19, we do not accept request. Siblings can be on the same team. Be sure to indicate that on the player application form.

It focuses on safety and appropriate behavior with children as well as first aid and other on-field issues. Agreeing to a background check is also required for each volunteer.
