Instructions For New Referees
Thank you for volunteering to Referee. Below are instructions to complete the referee volunteer process.
Note: The following items are needed for each referee volunteer
A volunteer application
Volunteer background check
Livescan/fingerprint
Online training
In-Person referee training
1. REGISTER AS A VOLUNTEER
Sign up online as a volunteer
NOTE 1: The region will pay for your background check and fingerprint
NOTE 2: If you have already completed a volunteer application, go to step 2
2. COMPLETE CERTIFICATIONS
Take the AYSO's Safe Haven certification, Sudden Cardia Arrest CDC: Concussion awareness and SafeSport.
Once you have created your volunteer application, you will be able to access the training portal
Click on VOLUNTEER
Click on AYSOU. You will be logged in the training portal etrainU.
Once at the training portal. Click on Training Library.
SAFE HAVEN COURSES
Under Course Categories, click on VIEW COURSES for the Safe Haven courses
Select and ENROLL each of the following courses:
Safe Haven, CDC Concussion, Sudden Cardiac Arrest
SAFESPORT TRAINING
Use the link below to complete the SafeSport certification
3. ONLINE REFEREE TRAINING
Take the Online REFEREE Training
In the training library, Look for Refereeing. Select VIEW COURSES
Enroll in Regional Referee - Online + In-Person Companion Course (2 Part Bundle)
4. SIGNUP FOR IN-PERSON REFEREE TRAINING
Sign up to attend the In-Person Coaching Course
Once you have completed the online training in step 3 above, register for the In-Person part 2 of the course.
Select Training Event
You will see a calendar with upcoming Regional Referee course, in-person events.
- Select the desired course
- Click on Enroll
NOTE: You can attend any course offered by other AYSO regions. Some neighboring regions may charge for the course they offer to outside volunteers. The region will reimburse you in that case. Forward your receipt to our Referee Administrator Nichole Wade, refadmin@ayso1031.org
